Michael Arndt grew up in the Frankfurt/Main area in Germany. After finishing school and civil service, he studied engineering at the universities of Darmstadt (D), Cardiff (UK) and Aberdeen (SCO) and finally received a PhD.
Coming originally from black and white photography, he works with various materials like oil and acrylic colors, watercolors, pastels, charcoal and ink on paper and canvas. He works on independent as well as remittance work especially for medical practices.
His works originate from atmospheres and moods he absorbes from nature and landscapes. They are then transformed by an abstract expressionistic, informel style into his paintings. He often uses combination of large color fields reminding of aged surfaces in his paintings.
Michael Arndt is taking regular lessons at the evening school of the Städelschule, Frankfurt (Germany), at Alanus Hochschule Alfter and at Kunstakademie Bad Reichenhall.
Teachers were Christopher Lehmpfuhl (Oil Painting), Gerhard Hillmayr (Watercolor), Somyot Hananuntasuk (Non-Representational Painting), Oliver Tüchsen (Drawing), Prof. Jo Bukowski (Painting), Rainer Kaiser (Painting) and Nino Pezzella (Painting).
Michael Arndt's paintings are part of several private collections in Europe.
