Michael Arndt grew up in the Frankfurt/Main area in Germany. After finishing school and civil service, he studied engineering at the universities of Darmstadt (D), Cardiff (UK) and Aberdeen (SCO). He received a PhD from Cottbus University (D) and is working today in a multinational company as an engineering director.
Coming originally from photography, he worked with various materials like oil and acrylic colors, watercolors, pastels, charcoal and ink on paper and canvas.
His work is centered around nature and landscape. He works in an expressionistic, sometimes informel style. In his paintings, he tries to capture the spirit and atmosphere of a landscape. Presently he is working on non-representational paintings inspired by structures found in landscapes combined with ageing surfaces like walls, planks etc.
Michael Arndt is taking regular lessons at the evening school of the Städelschule, Frankfurt (Germany) and at Kunstakademie Bad Reichenhall.
Teachers were Christopher Lehmpfuhl (Oil Painting), Gerhard Hillmayr (Watercolor), Somyot Hananuntasuk (Non-Representational Painting), Oliver Tüchsen (Drawing) and Nino Pezzella (Painting).
